There were about 330 eupchi(town seats) in the Korean Peninsula in the late Joseon Dynasty, and 26 of them were distributed in present-day Jeonbuk region. During the five hundred years of the Joseon Dynasty, each eupchi was filled with various landscapes and places that implied the human-nature relationship, society and culture, and dominant ideas of the time, including facilities for government officials and ancestral spaces, and the eupchi landscapes were born. Eupchi landscape is a traditional urban landscape of the Korean Peninsula and a valuable historical urban landscape from today's point of view. The Jinan-hyeon case makes it possible to estimate the architectural style and spatial arrangement of major government facilities, as well as the overall shape of the local administrative district. On the other hand, in this study, in order to classify the main types of eupchi landscapes from the perspective of the time rather than the perspective of the present, the mountain ranges and watercourses depicted on the local map in 1872, and the spatial arrangement of major landscape elements were analyzed. This is because the old map reflects the spatial perception of the people at the time of the eupchi landscape. Based on this, the main types of eupchi landscapes in the Jeonbuk region were classified into five categories, ie. Asa-centered type, Gaeksa-centered type, Gaeksa-Asa inclusive type, Gaesa-Asa branching type, and others. However, in order to more wholly trace the original landscape of townships in Jeollabuk-do, detailed studies on 26 eupchi landscapes and comparative studies with eupchi landscape in other regions should be followed.
